So, what is a typical day at Putnoe Woods...?
We provide the children with the freedom to play freely within a structure of daily routine.
As we all know with under 5's there is no 'typical day', however, it is important that the children feel a sense of security by knowing what is coming next in their day whether that be snack-time, lunchtime, song-time, story-time etc.
The early year’s foundation stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old.
All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes as this will support healthy development.

Here at Putnoe Woods we have an ethos of learning through play which we believe is the most appropriate and effective way for children of this age to learn. They are young and curious about life so we let them explore and engage in the resources around them. As a preschool we take guidance from the children and include their interests in our planning. So, if a child shows a strong interest in animals we will plan some activities around this topic. We encourage our children to engage in stories and books and use descriptive language when talking about things that interest them. This will be of enormous benefit when children begin to learn to read at school.
Our curriculum is very much based on what we wish the child to learn by the time they leave preschool. This is centred on learning through play and exploration to develop the skills that set the foundations to succeed in life.
We strongly believe in the benefits of LEARNING THROUGH PLAY.
